Top 10 Hottest “Plus” Sized Celebrities

Does being beautiful mean being a size 0?? I think not! While most children who develop eating disorders are between 11 and 13, studies have shown that 80% of 3rd through 6th graders are dissatisfied with their bodies or their weight and by age 9 somewhere between 30 and 40% of girls have already been on a diet. Between ages 10 and 16, the statistic jumps to 80%. Many eating disorder experts attribute this behavior to the effects of cultural expectations. Unnatural ideas of beauty bombard our little girls and teens for as long as they can remember, they need to know that they do not have to be as thin as bread sticks to be sexy or beautiful! Here are the Top 10 Sexiest “Plus-sized” (one hates to use the term) Models and Entertainers. Be happy with who you are, beauty is on the inside!

Age and desirability

I was with a friend and we were talking about the most beautiful Italians. I told him about a blog post I had written some time ago about my favourite Italian sex symbols and that I had put Alba Parietti and Sabrina Ferrilli in my top list.

"What?" he said horrified, "but they are old!!!"
"OK, I also had Monica Bellucci in that list", I added.
"She is also too old for this kind of thing now. You have to look for some one younger!" He insisted.
"There are really hot east European babes", the bar man added helpfully, providing details about the contortions they can do in some porn videos.

"They are not women, they are just meat. And anyway they are not Italian and we exclude porn stars from this classification", my friend clarified.

So there I was trying all kinds of combinations on Google to find out the top young models that Italians love today. Unsurprisingly, there is no unanimity.

Actually quite a lot of them seem to root for Martina Colombari, born in 1975, she was Miss Italy in 1991 and is still considered as one of the best models here. In 2006, in a pool on the best Miss Italy of all times, she was number one.
Best Models Photos
She does look great but I don't think that she is that young, like my friend was insisting.

Many others think that Carla Bruni is the best Italian top model of all times. Born in 1967 and now married to the French president Sarkozy, even Ms. Bruni is also not very young.
Best Models Photos
Two other names were mentioned on some websites - Marta Cecchetto and Federica Ridolfi. Ms. Ridolfi was in some recent list of top 100 most desirable women of the world compiled by Askmendotcom. Yet, born in 1974, Ms. Ridolfi is 34.
Best Models Photos
Marta Cecchetto, the other person often mentioned was born in 1978.
Best Models Photos
Finally a group of Italian journalists asked to identify the woman they would like to see nude on a calendar, gave the maximum votes to Ilaria d'Amico, a TV presenter but their choice had not so much to do with age, as with the fact that Ms. Ilaria refuses to have top less or nude pictures.
Best Models Photos
So in the end does it matter what year persons are born? Anyway, I feel that desiring a person has much more to do with the perceived personality of the person than just measurements of breasts or hips, etc. My wife keeps on saying that she finds Sean Connery, who must be seventy now, sexy. So there is hope for all of us, over the hill, but still somehow sexy and desirable, to the people who matter most to us! And I will stick with my Ferrilli and Parietti, thankyou.

Best Models of All Time

The latest issue of Harper's Bazaar has a spread with their picks of the greatest models of all time. The list is so comprehensive that we really have nothing to add. Enjoy - and tell us if you think they missed any.

Best Models Photos
Dorian Leigh
Before informing Eileen Ford she would sign with Ford Models if the agency took her little sister Suzy Parker sight unseen, Leigh landed the cover of Bazaar at age 27 in 1944, after telling Diana Vreeland she was 19. Her wistful femininity — and five marriages — made some claim she was the real Holly Golightly.

Dovima
The quintessential swan was a Queens housewife until she was discovered outside a Manhattan Automat. Described by Avedon as the "last of the great elegant, aristocratic beauties," she created the perfect fashion storm when she posed with elephants for him at the Cirque d'Hiver in Paris in 1955. The resulting images have long been among the world's best-loved fashion photographs.
Best Models Photos
Sunny Harvett
Avedon's 1954 picture of Harnett wearing a Grès gown at a casino was jet-set long before 007 ever spun a roulette wheel.
Best Models Photos
Lisa Fonssagrives
The face of the '40s and '50s (and Mrs. Irving Penn) called herself "a good clothes hanger."
Best Models Photos
Suzy Parker
The first model to earn more than $100 an hour, Parker was the face of postwar American glamour and inspired Audrey Hepburn's character in the 1957 film Funny Face. Her bright insouciance was beloved by Avedon, who called her "my most challenging and complicated of muses."
Best Models Photos
Jean Shrimpton
One of the original gamines, "the Shrimp" (winking for Avedon in 1965) embodied the London youthquake in her photos and free-spirited lifestyle.
Best Models Photos
Twiggy
Following on the go-go heels of Shrimpton, Twiggy's doe-eyed charm and leggy, androgynous looks made her the ideal mannequin for the mod looks of the mid-'60s.
Best Models Photos
Veruschka
Once considered too tall, at more than six feet, to be a model, the German knockout played up her exoticism and Valkyrie proportions by occasionally appearing in nothing but body paint and favoring far-flung locations.
Best Models Photos
Marisa Berenson
Elsa Schiaparelli's granddaughter's golden glow made YSL call her the "girl of the '70s."
Best Models Photos
Lauren Hutton
The first model to sign an exclusive cosmetics contract (with Revlon in '73), Hutton was an antidote to '70s excess.
Best Models Photos
Jerry Hall

Best Models Photos
Patti Hansen
A favorite of Albert Watson and Francesco Scavullo, Hansen married Keith Richards, with whom she has two daughters, Theodora and Alexandra.

Best Models Photos
Cheryl Tiegs
Best known for her swimsuit work, the quintessential California girl was the first to ride in on the wave that also brought Christie Brinkley to fame.

Best Models Photos
Paulina Porizkova
Czech-born Porizkova's sultry pout, captured here by Scavullo in 1987, was sought after in the early MTV era. A gig in a Cars video led to her marriage to Ric Ocasek.
Best Models Photos
Cindy Crawford, Tatjana Patitz, and Stephanie Seymour
In contrast to the colorful glitz of the previous decades, the rise of fresh-faced supermodels and stark photography coincided with the clean, pared-down minimalism that became the hallmark of the '90s.
Best Models Photos
Linda Evangelista
A closely cropped haircut, encouraged by Peter Lindbergh, catapulted Evangelista from the ranks to supermodel status. Photographed by Patrick Demarchelier, she graced the cover of Liz Tilberis's first issue of Bazaar in 1992. Together Evangelista, Christy Turlington, and Naomi Campbell were called "the Trinity," who, Evangelista once said, didn't "wake up for less than $10,000 a day."

Lensmen loved Turlington's squeaky-clean professionalism and Campbell's saucy swagger.

Beautiful model photos

Since many of you are more interested in looking at beautiful model photos, I will just show you some today. I haven’t took a lot of photos lately, so, just some from my private collection. Hehe…
Be nice and gentle with this model, okay…

She’s such a sweet girl! Anyway, forgot what’s her name, but I guess doesn’t matter, you enjoy the photos and not her name. :)
If you don’t mind, let’s stop for a minute for a small notice…
Have you subscribed to my RSS feed yet? Check the small picture below, you can see that there are over 600 subscribers now. If you haven’t joined, I am sure you don’t want to miss out on my juicy posts, right? Jump on and join… I wanna break the 1000 subscribers milestone… help me yeah? :)
Yes, 1000 subscribers. Still a long way to go, but with your help, I don’t see why we can’t achieve it. Ask your friends, colleagues, parents, aunties and uncles all come to subscribe, OK? Many thanks!!

Anyway, for those of you who are good in photography, you may notice that the background of the first photo has a lot of undesirable disturbances, which kind of distracting to the main subject, the model. What I did is to quickly blurred the background in Adobe Photoshop. It’s a very quick and easy trick… not sure if you wanted to know how I did it,… if yes, let me know and I shall made a quick step by step Photoshop tutorial next time. Illustrated of course.

I know you can never had enough of beautiful models. So, here is another picture of her in a different dress. Love the bright color patterns and scoop neck. Very sexy leh… :)

Demelza the Bully wins Australia's Next Top Model

Demelza Reveley, the youngest contestant this season at 16, is Australia’s Next Top Model. Despite the bullying controversy and the dig at her unmodel-like hips, she beat Alexandra Girdwood to become the face of Napoleon Perdis cosmetics for the year, also getting her own spread in Australia’s Vogue and a chance to jetset around the world to take on more seasoned models on the international catwalk.

Love the way these two embrace each other like they're the best of friends

Reveley won after the ultimate decision was left up to the viewers’ vote when the panel of six judges couldn’t reach a unanimous decision and was split into a tie. And here I thought the viewers’ decision didn’t matter and the whole voting system was all about the pretense of making viewers feel ‘involved’. But it seems that after the indignant outcry of many viewers crying out for Reveley’s blood after the Alamela bullying incident and vowing not to vote for her if she ever ended up in the final two, they had a change of heart. Many say this abrupt turn in Reveley’s popularity had to do with the endless criticism about her weight but I say, given that the other contender was Alex who could give Elvira a run for her money, the choice couldn’t have been that hard in the end.

But one person who was strongly campaigning for Alex to win was Alamela’s father, Peter, who is no doubt now disgusted that the ‘bully’ who taunted his daughter and even tipped a bucket of water over her head ‘to get a reaction’ is the ultimate winner of the competition. He fears that Reveley’s winning would justify the bullying Alamela had been subjected to, which also included, but not shown on TV, Reveley and a couple of others filling condoms with mayonnaise and putting them in Alamela’s bed and slipping chilli in her breakfast. Alamela and her dad had attempted to air their side on ‘A Current Affair’, concerned that the reality TV program was downplaying the whole bullying incident but the idea ‘was canned by the producers’.
This morning, during an interview with Merrick & Rosso and Kate Ritchie on Nova 96.9fm, Reveley reiterated again that it was a mistake and unfortunately, it was a mistake shown on national TV. During the afterparty the night before, she had apologised to Alamela but no one knows for sure if Alamela has accepted the apology or will ever. Alex, on the other hand, admits that she was on 'a high horse' at the start of the show and that being a runner-up has made her 'humble'. Well, if I had a few months to reflect over the bitchy things I did and said on the show (and reading about people's opinion about your big mouth), I'd be eating humble pie as well. Apparently, she has now signed up with Priscila's and hopes to get castings soon.

Personally, I didn’t want either Demelza or Alex to win. Of all the Top Models I’ve seen – in Australia and overseas, I have never come across two such unlikable finalists that I am sorely tempted to email the judges of the show and rant at them for giving us two pinheads whom I do not want to see grace the covers of any magazine or pout their way down any catwalk – even at a school fete. Boo. As much as I thought she was a complete ditz and you want to run around to hold a lightbulb over her head, I still think Samantha should have won. She may have had a commercial look but how can anyone pick a googley-eyed baby talker (and that’s what Demelza is, I don’t mind admitting) or a squinty-eyed hag with lips you’re hypnotized by because they don’t move, over Samantha? Boo, I say. Boo!!!

And while we’re on the subject of booing, why was Jodhi Meares noticeably absent from the live broadcast? Could it be the flak she got from her nervous twitching, deer-in-the-headlights act she did in the previous year, prompting Charlotte Dawson to take the reins, not to mention the unprofessional way she didn’t even bother hiding her annoyance that her favourite, Stephanie, didn’t win? I say, get rid of her next year. She may be ‘nice’ and ‘maternal’ to the models but she doesn’t do it for me on TV. To the producers, bring on a host with more presence and a selection of girls with a few you can actually cheer for next year because this season has been absolutely dismal. Bah.

Top Beauty Fashion

Top beauty icons. Everr.

The following women have become inspirational to me because of their impeccable grace. Whereas many women on TV are hailed as 'beauties' for simply good make up jobs, the ones featured below not only possess immense natural beauty, they also have the intelligence and passion to take risks and manage their lives independently. A ranking is not possible.

Sophia Loren was the world's Marilyn Monroe in the late 1950s-1960s. She grew up in poverty in Mussolini's Italy and during WWII she was living in a town continuously bombed by the Allies.

When she got into Hollywood she was critiqued incessantly for her atypically sharp features and told to lose weight. She rejected all this inane pecking to later win an Oscar and become one of history's most celebrated beauties.

Hollywood is 20x bigger than Bollywood in terms money--billions made on $12 movie tickets in the US, DVD releases, etc. Yet in terms of number of movies made and audience figures, Bollywood is far larger. The Bollywood movie market expands past India throughout Asia as a whole, the Middle East, Africa, and Western viewers including the huge South Asian diaspora in the US and UK. Aishwarya Rai is basically the face of Bollywood. She is a former architecture student-turned Miss World and has been a critical element in promoting the Bollywood industry abroad. She was named a TIME magazine Most Influential Person in 2004, she is a UN Microcredit spokesperson and pledged her famous eyes to the Eye Bank Association of India.

Salma Hayek already had a successful career in Mexico as a soap opera and movie actress, including a role in Miracle Alley--the highest acclaimed film in Mexican cinema history. In the 1990s she left her comfortable life there to create a name for herself in the US, hardly speaking English when she first arrived. After acting as the quintessential beautiful girl in numerous movies, she produced and acted in Frida in 2003, a biopic on the famous Mexican artist. She stopped waxing her face completely to grow out her own facial hair and earned an Academy Award Best Actress nomination for her role.

She is now CEO of her production company, Ventarosa, and has deals with the ABC network to produce TV shows geared towards the Latino audience. She is the force behind Ugly Betty, which was originally a soap opera in Colombia. In December 2008 Salma Hayek was named one of the Top 25 Smartest People in TV by Entertainment Weekly, a title well earned considering her vision. You think that's enough? She also testified before the Senate supporting the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act, and after having a baby, joined forces with Pampers in a UNICEF campaign providing tetanus vaccinations in underdeveloped countries.

In the 1970s most black models had great trouble getting work, yet Somali-born Iman became an international fashion muse working with the most elite names such as Yves Saint Laurent, Versace, and Donna Karen. Compelled by the difficulties she faced finding the right makeup to suit her complexion in the beauty/fashion industry, Iman created her own cosmetics line in 1994. IMAN Cosmetics was the first line of its kind specifically targeted to non-white women that beauty powerhouses like L'Oreal and Covergirl historically neglected. She has since wrote a book The Beauty of Color designed as a guide for women of all shades to help accentuate their own unique features. Currently Iman is an executive producer for the Canadian version of Project Runway, and has designed her own fashion line, Global Chic, inspired by global style trends.
