Spring 2010 Women’s Fashion Trends – Based on 2010 Runway Trends

The elusive Spring season–often over before we even knew it began– will be here before we know it and in addition to more favorable weather patterns, we can finally say good riddance to our bulky winter coats and look forward to more lightweight fashion choices.  Like most sane humans, you are definitely looking forward to this season of new beginnings in both the weather and fashion departments. We’ve compiled a brief list of trends you ladies can expect in these more temperate months, based on 2010 runway trends.

- Knee-highs
To anyone female who’s ever endured catholic school, knee highs are something they’d like to soon forget right along with the polyester plaid skirts. But before you get your kerosene, knee high socks, as well as over-the-knee and thigh high socks, are back and looking better than ever. Pair them with your favorite boots and you have a runway ready look.
- Military and Tribal Styles
A combination of the military trend and the more savage side of the tribal trend, the spring 2010 hybrid of the two leaves the formal and decorated style of military detailing behind. Elements of this style include metallic detailing on clothing, tunics; especially in leather, chain mail-inspired detailing, and other tribal inspired motifs with a modern twist.
- Sportswear
Sportswear takes on a whole new level of cool when it hits trend status in 2010. The key to this look is engineered by way of cropped tops, low rise loose pants to expose the waistband of an under-layer; comfortable, lightweight jersey fabrics, football-style shoulders. Woven into the effortless sportswear look are super-feminine elements like sheer fabrics and heels.
- Blazers
The key to this spring 2010 look is make it oversized. It shouldn’t swallow you, but it should be slightly loose fitting. Another key is to roll up the sleeves, for a laid-back, comfortably cool look.

This season, expect lots of wild prints in as equally wild colors.  Spring 2010 runways have shown bright clean turquoise, orange and hot pink, as well as softened coral and turquoise. Spring 2010 fashions will utilize all the shades necessary to create pretty, feminine patterns with an artistic edge.
- Oxfords
Once a staple in the footwear of yesteryear, designers are jumping on the Oxford trend and revamping this classic, clean style. Pair them with you favorite pair of ripped jeans or an aforementioned blazer and you’ll have the perfect Spring look, ready for 2010. - Hot Pants vs. Tap Pants
If there’s any reason to inspire you to hit the gym this spring, it’s the return of much dreaded hot pants. The high waisted vintage hot pants are in this Spring, but if you’re not confident with your physique or just don’t like showing your assets to the world, the loose boy shorts or Tap Pants are the hot pants cooler, polar opposite. These longer, flowing loose fitting shorts look best when paired with an over sized button down or a v-neck and a blazer.
